Looking for a unique venue for a party or other special event? Groningen’s historic churches offer untold opportunities.
Some of the churches in Groningen are still used for Sunday worship services; others have been given a completely new purpose. A number can be rented for one-off or recurrent events. Of course the event should be one that is appropriate to the church and its surroundings. Please feel free to get in touch with the Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken and find out what the options are. We would be happy to help you find suitable accommodation. And our donors get a 25% discount on the hire price!
From 14 November to 28 February, Noorderlicht and the Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken will present a large exhibition on The Rolling Stones in the Der Aa-kerk. ‘GIMME SHELTER’ shows work by photographers as well as documentaries, television material and much more. The exhibition runs parallel to ‘Unzipped’ in the Groninger Museum and offers a different view of the legendary band, by presenting a lot of early photography and partly approaching The Stones from a Dutch-Groningen perspective.

Many of our churches are always open to the public, but if they are not then you can often pick up the key from the neighbours. Below is a list with the addresses of all our key keepers.
